Stream Of Consciousness : Fate, Marriage and Graphic Design

I haven’t done this for a while, but here goes 🙂
Hmm…so the optional writing prompt was about fate and whether or not I believe in it.  I’m not sure that I want to touch that one with a ten-foot poll…it does remind me of the story of how I met my husband though.  If that was fate, it worked out pretty well 🙂
I have actually known my husband for about 20 years.  Yup, we met when I was just about 14…in Israel, where he grew up and lived his whole life until I ‘imported’ him…but that’s another story entirely.  I only have 5 minutes here, so we’ll do the nutshell version.  I was in Israel for Passover vacation with my family, and Rafi, my now husband, was babysitting for a family that lived near my family in NY but had a second home in Israel.  We were invited for a barbecue with another family and I met him…I have to say that I wasn’t particularly impressed.  Another friend did end up ‘dating’ him for a while (in that 14 year old sense of the word, lol)
We kept in touch somewhat, and, when I went back to Israel to spend a year between high school and college (that year is a whole other story in itself), I had a horrible breakup with the guy that I was dating at the time and ended up in a rebound relationship.  He went into the Israeli army, we dated exclusively long distance when I went back home, he moved to NY for college…fast forward a bunch of years, and here we are married with two kidlets.  Fate, maybe so.
Is shameless promotion allowed in Stream of Consciousness? I guess it must be, because that;s what’s in my head right now.  Have you seen my awesome monkey logo?  My husband designed that.  He even won a Graphic Design USA award for it.  He left his job and is currently looking for a new one.  Hear that folks? fabulous graphic designer looking for work…inclusing any and all freelance.  check out his website at rafib.com
his was my 5 minute Stream of Consciousness Sunday post. It’s five minutes of your time and a brain dump. Want to try it? Here are the rules…
