Sesame Street Live at MSG: 1, 2, 3 Imagine

Who wouldn’t like to hang out for an hour or two on Sesame Street?

One of the highlights of my family’s winter every year is to see what surprises are in store for the new production of Sesame Street Live….and of course, every year I get roped into adding a new Sesame Street Live cast recording to my CD collection 🙂

This year, kids attending the show are invited to come to the theater a hour early and play in a super fun PlayZone consisting of props and stage settings from Sesame Street. The fact that my daughter got to play on a piano like the one from Elmo’s world made running into the Subway early on a Sunday morning almost worth it 😉

Happy Birthday Elmo: Elmo’s Favorite Things DVD Release Party

Try to imagine a 2 ½ year old’s vision of a perfect day:  a bunch of friends, music , arts and crafts, cookies, candy, cake and balloons are all pretty good ingredients, no?

At Elmo’s 3 ½ year old birthday party (Monsters count birthdays differently than humans, natch), we were even treated to a musical performance from the real Elmo himself with his pal Leela, from Sesame Street.

Throw in a meeting with Elmo and you’ve passed happy and into the realm of completely awestruck. The only catch?  After seeing human sized Elmo impersonators for so long, try to convince the 2 ½ year old in question that the small red puppet with the man’s  hand in his tush is the ‘real’ Elmo. Though a little thrown off, my little one truly enjoyed her hug :) I was just hugely starstruck to meet Kevin Clash!

Katy Perry & Elmo: Sesame Street Succumbs to Censorship

Katyperry

Celebrity guest stars have been a big part of Sesame Street since the beginning…and the personality of each star is what makes the episodes fun.

Last week, Katy Perry leaked a video of her own guest spot on Sesame Street–a cute song called "Hot N Cold"…in the spot, Katy Perry, in a chartreuse party dress and veil, is complaining that Elmo doesn't want to play dress up with her anymore.  Almost immediately, a bunch of 'concerned' parents complained about the outfit that Perry was wearing–and the folks at Sesame Street pulled the episode.

Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo. I am so disappointed in Sesame Street–not to mention confused.  Have these parents never taken their kids to the beach or to a pool? Never let their kids play dress up?  Never noticed that Ariel, the Little Mermaid, is wearing nothing more than a bra top and tail?

A peek Into My Kitchen: Icing Elmo

So, yesterday it was my son’s 2nd birthday and we had a pretty great party. We rented a room at DramaZone (the venue at which we are currently holding our classes) and I ordered a ton of Elmo Plates and assorted sundries pretty reasonably priced from the Oriental Trading Company. We had my son’s Music Together teacher, Danny, come to entertain the restless natives for a bit…many mini bagels and other finger foods were consumed by all–and then it was time for the piece de resistance–the Elmo cake that I had been icing at 3am the night before instead of getting some much-needed beauty sleep.
