Have you ever wondered how many insidious germs are lurking in your apartment?
Quite honestly, I have never been that interested to find out.
While I'd like to think that my home is pretty clean, there are four people (including two adorable and germy children) living busy lives nestled amongst a whole lot of clutter in my apartment.
Sure, I clean up messes. If something spills, I mop it up. If someone sprinkles raisins all over my living room, I vaccuum. I am constantly wiping counter tops and sweeping up crumbs.
But no, I would not classify my apartment at spotless…by a long shot.
My family and their clothes are clean. Noses get wiped, hands get washed and shoes get removed and left at the door.
If I have to choose whether to scrub a bathroom or make sure that there is a balanced meal on the table at dinnertime, the food always wins.
I did, however, think it was pretty cool when I was approached to do a swab test of various 'areas of concern' around my nursery to find out what germs happen to be lurking there.
What the heck have I gotten myself into?
I received a small cooler with ice packs, 5 sterile sponges, sterile gloves, and a variety of small and large tubes.
It was time to play CSI in my 2 year old's room!
I swabbed the top of the changing table, the interior doorknob, a small toy computer, the crib rail and the inside of the wipe warmer.
You can see from my face that I don't play with test tubes too often.
Now I get to sit tight and wait to find out what potentially hazardous germs are lurking in my little ones room.

That is kind of cool! I wish I had had the opportunity to do that when my kids were little. I’m excited to hear your results.
Germ testing! What an undertaking. I will be looking forward to the results.
