Duane Reade stores have become like little worlds.
One of the perks of the apartment in which I live now is that there is a 24 hour Duane Reade less than a block away. I can buy milk, choose a new shade of nail polish or buy any of the constantly growing line of Duane Reade branded products at any hour of the day or night. My one teeny tiny complaint is that my store does not have one of the nifty old-fashioned beer taps that have cropped up in some of the UWS locations.
For extra shopping fun, Duane Reade has launched a cute little in-store magazine called Happy and Healthy to highlight featured products, recipes and deals. It’s glossy, it’s well designed and it’s super cute–though in my location it wasn’t as well displayed as in some others, because it was kind of tucked into an aisle between chips and beer and not right near either the entrance, the exit or the featured products (of which the store clerks were unaware.)
The issue has highlighted weekly deals on Delish Premium Tea-20s, Ology Household Paper and Cleaning products and Ghirardelli Chocolate Squares. It is amazing what good quality products Duane Reade has in it’s store brand lines–and how many of them are eco friendly or organic. I love the fact that Ology detergent has so many of the same ingredients as the brand name ‘green’ brands at a fraction of the price–and on sale, it’s even more of a bargain! My kids are already huge fans of the Delish Organic Apple Juice and Lemonade, so I’m really excited to try out their teas as well.
The magazine is so cute and colorful that you can even upcycle it as gift wrap for any of the many holiday presents that you will probably buy the instant you set your eyes on the “As Seen On TV” section 😉 I am currently obsessed with the Dream Lites light up pillows and the Stompeez slippers, though every time I go to the store they are sadly out of the boy friendly options.
