Buying presents for parents of new babies is tough…and if the family is having their second, third, fourth etc child the task becomes even tougher.
The family probably has all the baby gear that they need, and a certain amount of clothes can be handed down from child to child. There was a trend for a while to give personalized step-stools and rocking chairs, but, for those of us who are apartment dwellers with limited space, that was definitely a trend to be bucked.
That said, it’s sometimes nice for a child (particularly one who isn’t the first born) to have some things with their name on them…as opposed to all the bibs that they will be wearing with their older sibling’s monogram.
Is your house or apartment as safe as it could or should be?
Are you doing all that you can to avoid fire and other hazards? I know that I, for one, know all of the things about which I am supposed to be careful…but sometimes life gets in the way and I am careless.
I am constantly leaving things plugged in and walking away, leaving cords strewn all over the place so that I trip over them later. This is a problem in any season with my laptop, but now that it is cold and Flu season, I anticipate trouble with humidifier wires….plugs and spilling water are a definite no-no! I am also guilty of lighting my Shabbat candles and either going to sleep or leaving the house, probably a big safety no-no. I am even guilty of wacking my smoke detector with a broom handle to make it stop beeping after I burn something…(admit it, you’ve done that!)
It is nearly impossible for me to remember life without devices.
When I can’t reach the babysitter on her cellphone, I go completely insane. My mother laughs that this was never an issue “back in the day” when I was a child and dinosaurs roamed the earth. I can be found blogging, tweeting, facebooking, pinning and checking my email about a bazillion times a day. Ridiculous as it may seem to the uninitiated, when my internet goes down I start to twitch…(Ok, not an actual physical twitch, more of an internal sense of unease 😉
Now that I’ve had a few days to play with a NetZero HotSpot I don’t see how I can ever go back.
