Lisa Loeb in Concert at the Tribeca Performing Arts Center 5/22/14 ( #giveaway!)

**Disclaimer: I received tickets in exchange for sharing this information. All opinions are my own.”

“you say I only hear what I want to.
you say I talk so all the time so…”

Since I heard that Lisa Loeb was going to be in concert in NY, I have had the lyrics to her 1994 hit single Stay (I Missed You) from the Reality Bites soundtrack going over and over in my head…
I was in high school when the movie came out, and, while I can’t remember much about the movie except that Winona Ryder and was in it, I definitely remember that song. (It’s all coming back to me, now I’ve got to rent that movie!)

Constructing and Creating with Transformers #ConstructBots (review & #flash #giveaway)

**Disclaimer: I received a product sample in order to facilitate my honest review.  All opinions are my own.**

Even though, as a girl, I wasn’t the target audience for Transformers, guerrilla cartoon marketing being what it is, I can (but won’t) sing you the first bit of the jingle from the 1980’s Transformers commercial.  Chances are, if you grew up in the same era and ever turned on the television, you can do the same.

These, ladies and gentlemen, are not the Transformers of your youth.

Instead of simply an action figure which can be transformed back and forth from a robot to some sort of vehicle, the ConstructBots (as you might guess from the name) allow you to start from nuts and bolts–choosing each little piece of your soon to be created character.  You can even mix and match between sets of ConstructBots to make even more bizarre robotic creatures.

Dad or Alive: Adrian Kulp’s New Book Will Make You Spit Milk Out Of Your Nose

**Disclaimer: I received a copy of this book to facilitate my honest review. All opinions are my own.**

In fact, make sure that you aren’t drinking hot coffee while you’re reading. Really. This is a lukewarm or cold beverage kind of book. Don’t say that I didn’t warn you.

Anyone who’s been a parent, or has taken care of a child knows, that there are a whole lot of funny situations mixed up with the poignant ones. Parenthood is often ridiculous, and Adrian Kulp, a dad who found himself going from a high profile job as an entertainment industry executive to being thrust into the role of Stay at Home Dad….a role which, in Adrian’s case, came with a little getting used to and much hilarity.

The Very Hungry Caterpillar Day is on March 20th (Giveaway!)

As much fun as it is to discover new and exciting books with your child, sometimes is it just as much fun to re-discover some of your old favorites with them.  The Very Hungry Caterpillar definitely falls into the latter category.

I can vividly remember turning the short pages which detail every piece of the caterpillar’s meal and marveling at the foods he chose.

I was also not surprised when my own children wondered aloud, as I did, how the caterpillar was able to eat through a lollipop with his teeny tiny teeth.  Author’s license, I guess.

I’m looking forward to celebrating this beloved classic (and hopefully the dawn of Spring!) with my kids over the next couple of days!

Hasbro’s Jenga Boom–Review and Super Speedy #giveaway

jenga boom collage

Who doesn’t remember playing Jenga as a kid?  Stacking up the blocks carefully, taking them out one by one and then that ultra-satisfying CRASH when the whole thing topples over.

Jenga Boom takes the crash to a whole new level.

While game play is basically the same, this time the Jenga blocks (mercifully, a smaller stack) are piled up on top of a ‘detonator’.  To begin play, you pull the fuse cord, raise the platform and choose your block to remove and restack while the timer ticks.  You press a button to stop the timer when your turn is over, and then the next player restarts the timer and takes over. If you take too long, the whole thing gets knocked over by the detonator ever before you have the chance to choose the wrong block and ruin it yourself!
